I envisioned creating a nostalgic mail piece directly from the sketches I made while visiting the exhibit. I translated that into a digitized version, and by asking questions and determining who the audience was, I could produce an ad that was both inviting and bold.

Goal

To attract people into enjoying this phenomenal exhibition.

With my direct ad-mail, I want people to be interested in immersing in the world of Neon lights while exploring and learning more about how these magnificent light exhibitions are created, and how artists have used them in the past to attract attention and create beautiful pieces that decorate the cities.

Process

Sketches

After a visit to the museum exhibit, I was able to draw several ideas of how this display could attract young audiences to the museum.

I then chose three of those and created variations of them.

Information gathering

Like with all the work that I do, asking questions is a primordial part of the design process which allows me to start resolving problems.

Content writing & Image Creation.

Content and Images were put together, and the layout was modified to give place to a symmetric design. I envisioned an envelope that would arrive by mail and when opened, the neon light would be displayed as a pop-up.

Final and mock-up

I intended alternative colors for the neon light design, as well as different sizes. The final would be printed on brilliant paper and displayed in 3D.
